Description

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe 'Sedna' 18kt Rose Gold with Blue Sunray Dial 43mm, Unidirectional Satin-Brushed Titanium Bezel with Ceramic Insert and Liquidmetal Hour-Markers. It has a canvas strap with a matching gold tongue buckle, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The 43mm diameter solid three-body lightweight case, downturned lugs, and uni-directional bezel are brushed; the graduated diving time indicators are made of scratch-resistant Liquidmetal bonded on blue ceramic with a luminous raised dot at the 12 o'clock position. It has a screwed-down winding crown, and a sapphire crystal display case back. The dial is metallic blue with a sunray finish, with luminous gold baton hands and raised dot and baton hour index markers, and a polished steel central seconds hand with a luminous dot & red tip. There is a date aperture window between 4 and 5 o'clock, and it has a power reserve of 120 hours at full wind. It's water-resistant to 300 meters/1000 feet, and the 13.4mm case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe 5000-36S40-O52A has a mechanical automatic self-winding Blancpain caliber 1315 movement that's rhodium-plated, with Cotes de Geneve embellishment. It's constructed with 35 jewels, 227 components, and a shock absorber mechanism. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, a beryllium balance, a self-compensating nonmagnetic flat silicon balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism. The movement oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe 5000-36S40-O52A celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms collection introduced in 1953. This was a project requested by Lieutenant Claude Riffaud and Captain Robert Maloubier, co-founders of the Combat Swimmers - the French version of the US Navy Seals. The Fifty Fathoms was soon the industry standard for diving watches with its reputation hugely enhanced by famous undersea explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau. The Bathyscaphe is a re-edition of a popular model from the late 1950's.

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, named after the unit of length which corresponds to a depth of 1.829 meters was originally designed for the NAVY Seals of France in 1953. Renowned as the iconic timepiece of Jacques Cousteau, it can withstand water pressures of up to 1,000 feet. The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms are both rugged and immensely durable, measuring 43mm. Housing a precise automatic movement, the dial features large hour and minute markers providing excellent legibility. Born from excellent craftsmanship, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is the perfect timepiece for adventurers on land, air, and the very depths of the sea.

Blancpain was founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain. The company is situated in the Vallee de Joux in Switzerland and is renowned for its advancements in watchmaking techniques and for being devoted to manufacturing watches of the highest caliber comprising some of the most complicated movements ever imagined.
